Installing Octlitch
This guide covers installing Octlitch from the live environment.
1. Boot the live USB
Insert the Octlitch USB drive and boot your computer from it. Depending on your firmware, you may need to choose the USB device from the boot menu.
From the Octlitch boot menu, select:
Start Octlitch and install Octlitch2. Try the live environment
Before installing, check that important hardware works correctly.
- Wi-Fi or Ethernet
- Display and graphics
- Keyboard and mouse
- Audio
- Bluetooth if required
3. Start the installer
Open the Octlitch installer from the live desktop.
Follow the installer through language, keyboard, storage, timezone and user account configuration.
Review the storage configuration carefully before beginning installation. Partitioning changes can permanently erase data.
4. Storage
The installer can use automatic partitioning for a dedicated Octlitch installation, or manual partitioning for more advanced layouts and dual-boot configurations.
If you are unsure which option to use, back up your files before continuing.
5. Begin installation
Confirm the installation summary and begin the installation. The installer will copy the system to disk and configure the bootloader.
6. Restart
When installation is complete, restart the computer and remove the installation USB when prompted.
