First boot

A few useful steps after starting your newly installed Octlitch system.

Update the system

Start by installing the latest Fedora package updates.

sudo dnf upgrade --refresh

Restart the system if the update includes important system components such as the kernel, systemd or graphics libraries.

Install applications

Octlitch uses two primary application sources.

• DNF for operating system packages and system components.
• Flatpak and Flathub for many desktop applications.

KDE Discover is included as the graphical application manager for Flatpak applications.

Choose an Octlitch theme

Octlitch includes four curated desktop looks:

• Valley
• Model
• Coast
• Mountain

They can be selected from KDE Plasma's appearance settings.

NVIDIA graphics

Proprietary NVIDIA drivers are intentionally not included in the installation image.

Octlitch provides a post-install helper for users who choose to install the NVIDIA driver:

sudo octlitch-install-nvidia
